Our Honorary Campaign Chairs Phyllis & Kyle Robeson
Friends,
A strong public library says a lot about a community. It sends a clear message that education and lifelong learning are important and encourages men and women of vision to invest in the future of our community.
Much of what you see today at the library owes its existence to one such visionary. More than 100 years ago, local businessman and philanthropist A. C. Burnham provided much of the early support for the Champaign Public Library. And his gift has lived on, serving the needs of seven generations -- through war, economic hardships, and ultimately the great prosperity of a city with an unlimited capacity for change.
Today, another generation has been called to carry the torch he lit and build a new library capable of meeting the needs of this century and beyond. As lifetime residents of Champaign and the beneficiaries of its rich cultural heritage, it is our privilege to invite you to join us in supporting this important community endeavor.
Both Phyllis and I hope that you will consider becoming a founder of the new Champaign Public Library with your generous gift.
