Be a Friend

Who are your friends? They’re people who care about you. People who encourage you. It‘s the same way with Library Friends.

The Friends of the Champaign Public Library are people like you who care about their library. They know that having a great library makes Champaign a nicer place to live. The Friends help provide library materials and services beyond what the library‘s regular budget can buy. They are enthusiastic advocates for the library and the value of reading.

It’s always great to make new Friends. Join today!

Friends activities, especially their FriendShop, raise funds that support reading programs and helped build our new library.

Merchandise in the FriendShop

FriendShop

The FriendShop is a quiet retreat on the lower level of the library offering used books, CDs, and DVDS, plus unique gifts including our Baby Boogie CD. The shop is open Sundays, 1:30 to 5:30 pm, plus once a month on the first Tuesday, 5:30 to 7:30 pm. All sales benefit the library.

Got Books to Donate?

We accept only newer books, CDs, and DVDs in good condition. Items we feel would benefit our customers go into our collection; others go to the FriendShop.

We cannot accept any magazines and Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, nor encyclopedias or textbooks more than 5 years old. Small numbers of items may be placed in our book returns. For more than a boxful, please call 217/403–2000 to make arrangements for drop-off. Tax receipts are available.

For other places to take items, see Recycling, Donating, and Getting Rid of Stuff under “Your Community/Home & Garden.”
