Champaign (City) Area Statistics

Description: The City of Champaign has grown over one quarter in size in the last seven years. According to recent calculations, the 2007 City boundary is 26.4% larger than it was in 2000. In 2000, the City covered 17.01 square miles of land. It now covers 21.50 square miles, for a 4.49 square mile increase over the past seven years. This translates to about 0.64 square miles of growth per year. The 2007 City boundary includes newly annexed areas as shown in the 2007 Official Zoning Map.
