Read Me a Future: Gift Packets for New Parents

We give the parents of every child born in Champaign-Urbana a very special gift: the gift of reading.

To encourage parents to read to their babies early and often, the library gives each newborn’s family a free packet with:

  • a board book to read to their baby
  • our own Read Me a Future booklet of tips on how to read to babies and toddlers
  • a Baby Boogie CD of catchy tunes for tots; produced by the library, the CD features top-notch local talent and was a Parents’ Choice Approved Award Winner
  • a book dedication form so we can dedicate a book in our children’s department to each new baby in town

Packets are distributed through Carle Foundation and Provena Covenant hospitals. Publication is made possible by support from the Champaign Public Library Friends.

For more information about the program, contact the library’s Development Director Donna Pittman at 217/403-2048 or dpittman@champaign.org.
