We put your gifts and used books to good use.
Learn about giving to the library or donating used books for sale in our FriendShop, where all proceeds benefit the library.
How can I give a gift to the library?
There are many options for donating to the Champaign Public Library Foundation in support of our endowment or library programs and services.
Do you take donations of books, movies, or music?
Newer books, CDs, and DVDs in good condition can be donated at the Main Library’s drive-up book return any time, or at the book return inside when the library is open.
We cannot accept magazines or Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, nor encyclopedias or textbooks more than five years old.
Donated items that we feel will benefit our customers are added to our collection. Others go to the Friends of the Library’s FriendShop, where sales benefit the library. Gift receipts for tax purposes are available at the Checkout Desk.
If you have a significant number of items (more than a boxful or so), please call us at 217/403–2000 before you come, so we can make arrangements to receive them.
For possible places to take items that our library does not accept, check our Home & Garden page under Getting Rid of Stuff.
