“...the librarians always say, “How may I help you,” even though they just saw us yesterday....”

By Isaac H., November 2007

We do not own a television. I don‘t know who is dancing with the stars. And I have no idea what the latest Pepsi commercial is like. But, I was reading independently in the first grade — books like Ragweed by Avi. Now I am 14 and I am reading Pride and Prejudice (that one was assigned). I liked The Yearling, Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. We always read unabridged books at my house.

I don’t remember my first trip to the library. My brother was 1 day old the first time he was there (so he was practically born there). We know all the children’s librarians, and they know us. When we go in, the librarians always say, “How may I help you,” even though they just saw us yesterday and they know that we are just there because we love it. They always find new and wonderful things for us to read.

We’ll be checking out a lot of books before the library closes. We wouldn’t want our requests to be cluttering the Holdmobile! Looking forward to the new library!
