“Every community depends on and is defined by its public library. The Champaign Public Library is a magnet, a haven, a jewel that enriches the quality of our lives immensely.”
— Paula Kaufman, University Librarian 1999-2013; Professor, University Library
Our library was one of our city’s favorite destinations—part of its micro-urban vibe. An average day included 3,000 visitors, more than 6,300 items checked out, and 24 meeting and study room uses. Items borrowed topped 2.2 million.
Our “Choose Civility” project—reminding us how kindness can enrich our lives—was launched with help from generous community partners.
Our library was honored to be on Library Journal’s prestigious list of America’s Star Libraries for the fifth time. We’re one of the nation’s best.
Digital magazines, loaded Kindles, and 30,000+ eBooks brought more high-tech, mobile ways to use your library—as you’d expect in a “top 10 tech town.”
